 1997 was the year that Neil hosted a farm equipment clinic in Hickson tailored to the Insurance Industry relating to agriculture. It was following this time that the phone started to ring…. Not for repairs but evaluations. 

Neil worked for Auto Claimco for 2 years and in 2002 Great Lakes Appraisals was formed as a Sole Proprietor. 


Partnership – Spring 2021

The partnership of Great Lakes Appraisals was formed in the spring of 2021, Neil and Jeff  both bring many facets of both technical repairs and journeyman experience to our business. 

Great Lakes Appraisals has approximately 30 active companies that utilized the services, specializing in all agriculture equipment as well as constructio  related equipment, challenges, as well as consulting on some “unique” circumstances for difficult situations.

Neil Langlois

Neil grew up in the Embro area of Oxford County, on a family farm consisting of 400 sows farrow to finish, 400 head of beef cattle, and approximately 1200 acres of farmland.

Neil moved to the auto repair industry in 1985 after graduation, becoming a licensed body and frame technician. In 1991 he worked at a farm equipment dealer in the Embro area and spent 5 years working as a farm equipment mechanic. Following this, Hickson Collision Centre was formed and a relationship with Auto Claimco was built for the equipment salvage business.


 

Jeff Ward

Jeff grew up in the Bright area of Oxford County, on a family farm consisting of breeder broilers, supplying eggs for the hatcheries. The family also farmed approximately 120 acres in the surrounding area, and Jeff stayed busy collecting eggs and milking cows after school and weekends. 

Jeff graduated high school in 1984, and then graduated from technical courses at Centennial College in Scarborough in 1986. Jeff started his Farm Equipment apprenticeship in 1987, completing his program and receiving his Farm Equipment Mechanics license in 1991 while working at Chesterman Farm Equipment. Jeff spent many years in the farm equipment world as a road tech and lead mechanic, until he moved to the Power Sports world of mechanics in 2005, and in 2007 was offered a position with Cat Care by Cornerstone, Arctic Cat Canada as the claims technical lead till 2012. 

Jeff has a very broad spectrum of knowledge and expertise in both agriculture and the power sports world.
